“The books transported her into new worlds and introduced her to amazing people who lived exciting lives.
She went on olden-day sailing ships with Joseph Conrad.
She went to Africa with Ernest Hemingway and to India with Rudyard Kipling.
She travelled all over the world while sitting in her little room in an English village.”

Much learning can be done through literature.
I am a firm believer in introducing children to classic pieces of literature at a young age and exploring the world through those wonderful written words.
We have completed cross curricular novel studies each year for the past 5 years and my only complaint is that I didn’t begin sooner!
We travel the world through these books.
We travel through time as we place ourselves in various settings and time periods.
We devour new vocabulary, phrases, comprehension, and so much more!
We complete corresponding science experiments, take wonderful field trips, and have an amazing time!
Our hearts always ache a little when we reach the end of our beloved novel at the end of the year.
The characters become our friends. We know them. And we’re always a little sad to see them go.
Truly the best part of teaching a novel study is that anyone can do it.
And any child can and will learn through them.
Novel studies are exciting, fun, and engaging!
