Do you spend the majority of your day in your pjs?
Do you consider your time in the bathroom your “me time”?
Have you ever considered a rousing game of Wii Sports your PE for the day?
If you answered “yes” to any of these, then you’re in the right place!
Sometimes as homeschool moms, (or moms in general), we have our moments.
You know the ones.
Those cringe worthy moments when we say and/or do things that we hope the neighbors don’t see.
These are mine.
So sit back, relax, read along, and laugh. I hope you can relate.
Confession #1 :
Once, in a moment of under caffeination, I told my son that 3 quarters equalled a dollar.
This resulted in him looking at me like I was growing bright green antennae out of my head as he proceeded to correct me.
To which I replied, “I know! I was testing you! You pass! Good job!”
Confession #2 :
As much as I enjoy taking my boys to the library to check out new books, I am a huge slacker when it comes to bringing those books back.
Never mind the reminder emails that I receive. My brain does not remember library related tasks.
Which, of course, results in fees. Lots of fees.
Thats always fun!
Confession #3 :
I am a musician, and a music teacher. Every day I teach other people’s children how to sing and play the piano.
Do my kids sing and play the piano?
Not even a little bit.
Funny thing is, I can teach other’s how to play/sing, but I cannot, for the life of me, teach music to my own kids.
I’ve failed. Every time.
And, you know what?? I am totally ok with that!
Confession #4 :
Once, when my boys were small, I left them unattended for a few minutes while I ran upstairs to get dressed.
(I had overslept that morning)
When I walked back downstairs, I saw my youngest painted head to toe with bright blue paint.
His brothers painted him while I was upstairs.
When I tried to bathe him, he cried and insisted that he loved being blue.
Perhaps he could get a job as an understudy for the Blue Man Group?
Confession #5 :
I love being up early in the mornings. The quiet of the house, while everyone is sleeping, is my favorite time of the day.
The catch is, I LOVE my sleep.
I may love being up in the mornings. But I hate getting up in the mornings.
The snooze button and I get well acquainted every morning.
Many a morning have I overslept.
Many a morning have I zombie walked downstairs, searching for coffee, only to see my children sitting at the table working on their school work on their own.
Many times have I heard, “You were sleeping, Mama, so we got started on our own.”
Friend, being a mom is hard work. None of us is perfect. We ALL have our moments. It’s learning to laugh in those moments, and cutting ourselves a little slack that gets us through each day.
I hope you were able to giggle along with me. I hope you see that you’re not alone.
Be blessed in those moments today, friend.
