Hello friends! I am so happy you are here! I’m Kristi. I’m wife to Jason, mom to three wonderful boys, musician, and homeschooler.
I created My Three Sons Shine to help encourage and support other homeschool families. Homeschooling is no easy task. It is incredibly easy to become discouraged, frustrated, overwhelmed, and stressed out. I’m here to tell you that those feelings are completely normal! My desire is to help you in any way I can. I’m here, and I’m moving right along with you! You are not alone!
One question that I get asked a lot is, “Why did you choose to homeschool?”. The short answer is our eldest son, Carter. Before Carter started school, we never thought we’d homeschool. Let alone write a blog about it. Early into his schooling, we noticed that something was off. Little did we know at the time, Carter has a learning disability. We finished out that VERY difficult first year in our local public school, then immediately afterward we enrolled him in a charter school. Shortly into our first year of homeschooling, our son went from angry, confused, stressed, and tearful, to happy, encouraged, focused (usually), and eager to complete his school work. Sure, we still have many difficult days. I still have many tearful nights, and we still have to work extra hard to learn new concepts. His learning disability is not fun, and it effects every area of his life. And yet, even in those difficult days, there is joy. I have been called to homeschool my children. I love my time with my boys. I have peace knowing that I am doing what I was called to do. Our time learning, laughing, and discovering new things together is something that I cherish, and I wouldn’t change it for anything!
